Dunkerque

Auto Credit Based on Harunami's Dunkerque

(PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW, for information on how to use the Dunkerque, and a little bit of history on it too!)

Special thanks go to Harunami, for helping me put missles in the gun turrets, and helping me with the propulsion.

I used Halphas's Ship Sub-Assemblies set to set up some of the secondaries and range-finders.

This took me 4 weeks to build, so please enjoy! It is also my first warship, besides the Taihou I made last month.

HISTORY
-------------

Dunkerque was the lead ship of the Dunkerque class of battleships built for the French Navy in the 1930s. The class also included Strasbourg. The two ships were the first capital ships to be built by the French Navy after World War I; the planned Normandie and Lyon classes had been cancelled at the outbreak of war, and budgetary problems prevented the French from building new battleships in the decade after the war. Dunkerque was laid down in December 1932, was launched October 1935, and was completed in May 1937. She was armed with a main battery of eight 330mm/50 Modèle 1931 guns arranged in two quadruple gun turrets and had a top speed of 29.5 knots (54.6 km/h; 33.9 mph).

(I also modeled the speed to be accurate to this, as it IS a fast battleship)

Dunkerque and Strasbourg formed the French Navy's 1ère Division de Ligne (1st Division of the Line) prior to the Second World War. The two ships searched for German commerce raiders in the early months of the war, and Dunkerque also participated in convoy escort duties. The ship was badly damaged during the British attack at Mers-el-Kébir after the Armistice that ended the first phase of France's participation in World War II, but she was refloated and partially repaired to return to Toulon for comprehensive repairs. Dunkerque was scuttled in November 1942 to prevent her capture by the Germans, and subsequently seized and partially scrapped by the Italians and later the Germans. Her wreck remained in Toulon until she was stricken in 1955, and scrapped three years later.

CONTROLS
----------------
Use VTOL to move the turrets, but these will not move or shoot until you activate them.

1 and 2: Main Battery Turrets
3 and 4: Amidships Secondary Turrets
5, 6 and 7: Rear Secondary Turrets

Now for the main battery turrets, you can press Right Shift (or the arrow in your HUD), and select Air To Ground weapons. You will see that you have 56 missles. Press the Fire Missles button and the Dunkerque will fire according to how many times you press the button.

For the secondary turrets, while they are activated, press Spacebar to fire. You will a small CRACK announcing they have fired. These don't have tracers, so you can't see the bullets, so it is best to use them at close range.

As for the main controls, increase the throttle, and press Q or E to steer. Don't press it too hard though, or your French ship will drift like a French car!

Also, you will note that the rangefinders turn with the turrets. This is just something I added to increase historical accuracy. There is also a catapult at the back that is capable of rotating; if you want to make a floatplane for it, you are free to do so.

Have fun poking some Germans, while also telling the world that history is just another bedtime story!

@Mainblocks Sorta. I was creating the Dunkerque already, but WoWS had to release it later too, so I based it off that.
