The Ya-55A1 was the result of the 1958 OR/99 commision from the Antonian Aeronautic design group, specifications to replaced the aging fleet of the 1946 Ya-44 twin-engine jet, the compagny Ya provided the most interesting airframe with the Ya-55A0 and added to military inventory the septembre 5 1961.

The jet is powered by three turbojet engines, state of the art, each capable of 4490lbs of thrust. . Capable of sending the fully loaded 10,768kg aircraft in the low 1050km/h. The triple turbojet set was chosen, as the industry of the turbojet in Antonia was still alive, lacking experience and manufacturing efficiency of turbofans. Drastically lowering the cost of the machine for the current industrial economy, considerably more affordable than airplanes like the F.4 phantom.

The Ya-55 was a multi-purpose aircraft, somewhat reminiscent of the old theme of heavy-fighters. (The Bf-110C used extensively, produced localy and was such a shock to the Antonian aeronautic that even today, they still haven't moved away from such plane design completedly. The Ya-44 more or less a jetpowered copy of it.) Performing in both fighter, air-superiority and quick and deadly ground-attacks.

While the initial version where taken out of the frontlines a while ago, the following versions can still be found flying, now supported with specialised with air-superiority to combat the often more powerfull jets for the Ya-55. (now powered with a more powerfull turbofan replacing the fuselage engine and stronger jets on it's flanks.)
