Airbus A350 is a twin-engine, wide-body, long-range passenger aircraft developed and manufactured by Airbus. The A350 design was originally proposed in 2004, in response to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, to be an evolution of the Airbus A330 with composite wings and new engines. Due to insufficient market support, Airbus switched to an all-new "XWB" (eXtra Wide Body) design in 2006, powered by two high-bypass Rolls-Royce Trent XWB turbofan engines. The first prototype flew on 14 June 2013 from Toulouse, France. Type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was granted in September 2014, followed by certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) two months later
