A-6 Intruder
~~~~OPERATIONAL AT HIGHEST SETTINGS~~~~
VTOL = Landing Gear (slide down)
Group 1-4 = AGM-45 missiles
Group 5-6 = AGM-65 missiles
The Grumman A-6 Intruder was an American, twin jet-engine, mid-wing attack aircraft built by Grumman Aerospace. In service with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps between 1963 and 1997, the Intruder was designed as an all-weather medium attack aircraft.
It was a subsonic, two seat aircraft fitted with the ability to carry up to 15,000 lb or numerous types of munitions. The Intruder was equipped to carry and launch a nuclear bomb and Navy crews regularly planned for assigned nuclear missions.
Because it was a low-flying attack aircraft, an unusual method was developed for launching an atomic bomb. Essentially, as the Intruder approached the target, it would begin a steep climb and release the nuclear bomb. As the bomb continued to climb upwards and forwards, the Intruder would continue climbing, invert, and bug-out in the opposite direction at top speed. This manuver ensured that the plane and crew would have enough time to put enough distance between them and the blast.
Although I didn't outfit this bird with a nuke, she is still strapped to the teeth with 10 missiles and looks pretty too. She has great all around performance, speed, and range.
I spent a lot of time on this craft trying to make it a Replica on par with my A-10 N/AW Thunderbolt II. To accomplish this I implemented a couple modified cone pieces (thanks WalrusAircraft) but no other mods were used.
Enjoy! And keep an eye out for more to come!
25.5k ScriefersI really don't know what it could be, post a kamcord video so I can get a better idea of what's happening @shootster069.6 years ago
1,278 shootster06@Scriefers All my settings are on high.9.6 years ago
25.5k ScriefersI can't seem to replicate the issue in the video https://www.kamcord.com/v/FABtAGEEiC2 I am sorry you are having it. What are your in-game physics settings set to?@shootster069.6 years ago
-
1,278 shootster06@Scriefers Highest. I've discovered that rolling one direction while pitching up then changing the roll simulates the problem9.6 years ago
-
25.5k Scriefers@shootster06 Hmm... Even at max power make sure your speed doesnt fall below 200 MPH. What are your physics settings set to?9.6 years ago
-
1,278 shootster06@Scriefers While at max power, whenever I attempt to pull up and roll, I experience a loss of control, sometimes even banking the other direction. I'll see if I can get a recording of it.9.6 years ago
-
25.5k Scriefers@Shootster06 watch your airspeed, you're more than likely stalling out. This is among my top performing aircraft and I can't replicate what is happening to you unless it's going too slow. Sounds like pilot error; not the craft. Can you be more specific?9.6 years ago
-
1,278 shootster06Well done on the design. However, I do have difficulty attempting to execute a roll and pitch maneuver at the same time9.6 years ago
13.8k TheSoundofLight@Scriefers Great! You should check out mine! I hope you like mine.(PS I have about 22 planes)9.6 years ago
25.5k ScriefersI'll be getting to it soon. I took a little hiatus from the request list to work on some builds from my personal list. @Hunter779.6 years ago
25.5k ScriefersI really hate denying people their requests and I truly try my best at all of them, but I'm afraid I won't be building a B-2 any time soon (or at all) @Billybobjoe. @Cedy117 just built one that is insurmountable. I won't be able to be one better than his. Check it out! https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/sHGraP/Northrop-Grumman-B2-Spirit9.6 years ago
2,403 BillybobjoeOk can't wait to see it when you get around to building it I'll definetly download it I've been waiting for some one to build a good b-2 in simple planes Im not saying the others are bad I just think that they are not as good as they could I could not say that they are bad if I really thought so because I can't build anything that even looks like a b-2 but can't wait to see it if you do make it-ps your Horton ho 229 is extremely good9.6 years ago
-
25.5k ScriefersI have a b-2 on my list so I'll be building one eventually, but at the moment I don't participate in build challenges @Billybobjoe9.6 years ago
