The N317EA is a Lockheed L-1011 Tristar 1, which made its maiden flight on June 24, 1973 and was manufactured in Palmdale, USA. This machine uses three Rolls Royce RB211-22B engines. The aircraft was delivered to Eastern Airlines on July 13, 1973, with MSN: 193A-1038 and a cabin layout of F28Y288. In June 1990, the aircraft was leased to ATA (American Trans Air) Airlines. The cabin layout has been changed to Y358. In June 1990, the aircraft was leased to Algerian Airlines and was terminated on September 11 of the same year before returning to the ATA Air fleet. On September 26, 1990, the aircraft returned to the Eastern Airlines fleet in the United States. On January 18, 1991, Eastern Airlines ceased operations and the aircraft was delivered to Delta Air Lines for use on May 21. In August 1991, the machine changed its registration number to N784DA. The machine was decommissioned in June 1999 and began storage in the Mojave Desert. Finally dismantled in December 2003, at the age of 30.5.
