The X-F162 program based on existing F16

The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft with over 4,600 built since 1976. Late in the 1990s, the USAF gave new requirements and guidelines to possibly replace with a new generation of F-16 while saving the budget, and the X-F162 program was born. There are a few competitors, and the contract includes Boring, Northrop GrewsomeMan, Look-at-Martin Skunkbutt, and Win'sWings aviation company, for which the last was awarded the contract to build 2 prototypes.
