Eva Unit-00 was one of the premier Eva Units, having served for the majority of the run of the television series. It's combat debut was with the Fifth Angel Ramiel, using a makeshift shield to prevent Unit-01's destruction.
Unit-00 saw a major refit after this battle and served as the Evangelion of pilot Rei Ayanami. Eva-00 KAI's service career ended when it was destroyed in a battle with the Sixteenth Angel Armisael.
