CANT Z-1007 ter serie XIII
The CANT Z.1007 "Alcione" was a three-engine heavy bomber designed in the 1930s by Filippo Sabata, an Italian engineer at the United Adriatic Shipyards. As the best bomber of the Italian Air Force during the Second World War, it was well recognized by the Italian military hierarchy and also loved by the front-line combatants, who adjusted the layout of the bomber's bomb bay and the arrangement of the bombs according to the actual combat experience, and whose defense system also withstood the test of war. But the Italian aviation industry was unable to meet the needs of the increasingly fierce war, and its monthly production rarely reached more than 20 aircraft. After the Italian surrender in 1943, some Z-1007s were handed over to the Luftwaffe to support the 26th Panzer Division's operations in Italy.
