I found some stuff in the archives that may help us identify the mystery aircraft. It is from a pilot’s diary. Here is a transcript of the parts I think may be of our plane:
May 25
Today one of our Hawker Hurricanes came in badly damaged. Observers noted the engine was on fire and was missing half of its right wing. It crash landed. Fire was extinguished immediately and pilot was help to the hospital.
May 29
We lost a Spitfire MK I/L in combat today. We are short 1 plane now. Reqest has benn sent to have another one shipped over.
June 2
Request denied. We will have to find a different way to get another plane. Heard some suggestions about making crashed hurricane airworthy again… No clue what to do
June 3
One of the flight mechanics looked over the crashed hurricane. Nearly all of the airframe was intact and structurally sound. We have no other option so are going to try to make this fly again.
June 5
Damaged parts of airframe have been removed. Need parts to repair with.
June 11
Ground forces found a damaged hurricane hidden in a patch of thick trees. We are hoping to salvage all the needed parts from it.
June 26
Fuselage completely repaired, we have installed a new engine. Planes can’t fly without wings though
July 2
We have been shipped a pair of wings and a cooling system. The address was that of another airfield, but they could wait.
July 5
Hurricane finally has new wings and a much better cooling system than the one we rigged up. Should be airworthy now.
July 6
One of our pilots took it for a test flight. It flew remarkably well! Now we just to polish and repaint it, and make the weapons systems fully functional.
July 10
The Splurricane, as everyone’s started calling it, looks good with a new coat of paint. It’s now ready for combat. We don’t know how it will perform, but only combat shall tell.
July 15
We intercepted a Luftwaffe transmission early this morning. This prompted all planes to be scrambled, including the new Hawker Splurricane. In battle it shot down two BF-109’s and severely damaged another. It also shot down a FW-19.

Armament:
2 Hispano Cannons
4 Seventy Caliber Machine Guns

Controls:
Pitch-Pitch
Roll-Roll
Yaw-Yaw
Gear-Retract/Extend Gear
Fire Guns-Fire Guns
Flaps-VTOL
Notes:
She’s a bit hard to take off and land, but it’s doable. For landing, go as slow as you can and use flaps. For takeoff, if throttle immediately to 100%, the nose will get pulled into the ground. You can take off at 10% throttle without flaps. I haven’t tested what the max throttle is that wont smash the engine, so feel free to experiment. The flaps also have enough of an effect that you can use them as trim.
