The RQ-4 is an UAV surveillance aircraft. It was also known as Tier II during developement. It plays a role similar to the U-2, it provides a broad overview and systematic surveillance using high resolution synthetic aperture radar and long range electro optical/infrared sensors with long loiter times over target areas.
