The M2 Armadillo Medium Battletank Project was started in 1950 as a replacement for the M4 Shermans..the first model rolled out and designed is the M2F1 Armadillo..rolled out in 1956 after 6 years of development, all M2 Armadillo tanks have fat and thick hull because it's designed to carry huge amounts of ammunition and designed to let the crew to survive for days
