An experimental interceptor based off of the I-3 prototype except for changes in the hull and nose to fit the Lyulka AL-7F jet engine and the Uragan-5 radar, but delays within the program was its downfall, instead Sukhoi's Su-9 became the interceptor (it has an extreme climb but let it get really high before pitching down, trim for landing gear)
