A-26B Invader

The Douglas A-26 Invader (designated B-26 between 1948 and 1965) is a twin-engined light bomber and attack aircraft built by Douglas Aircraft Company during World War II which also saw service during several major Cold War conflicts.
The A-26B had a "solid" nose, which originally could be equipped with a combination of armament including .50 caliber machine guns, 37mm auto cannon, 20mm or even a 75mm pack howitzer Normally, however, the solid nose version housed six .50 caliber machine guns, and was affectionately known as the "six-gun nose". The other variant, the A-26C, had a “glass bubble” nose which housed targeting sites used during precision bombing sorties.
Along with its many mounted cannon, the Invader also carried a devastating payload of ordnance for its size. This made the A-26 a formidable, and innovative ground-attack aircraft. The A-26 also had a dorsal-mounted gun turret as a defense against enemy interceptors.
Ahiredgun introduced me to this craft, and I got to say it's probably my new favorite WWII warplane. I had fun building it and put quite a bit of effort into replicating the minute details.
It is a great flyer that cruises perfectly level at its max speed of 360MPH. I kept the flight characteristics similar to that of medium bombers of WWII, but you can adjust the control flaps to increase performance if you so desire. One thing I couldn't do was to get the aesthetic propellers to spin constantly during flight. I tried VTOL nozzles but I didn't like how it looked. So for now, they just freely spin.
Enjoy this new bomber! And I am open to any recommendations or consults.

4,227 GeebersYea, I'm not a Scriefers account, I just really enjoy his planes! If you look at the few things ive posted, they're terrible... So I'm definitely not him;)9.7 years ago

1,098 Timinator1400Darn, I was just about to start work on an A-26 but it looks like that idea is scrapped… Aside from that well done, I especially like the bomb door and 'retractable' wheel innovations.9.7 years ago
-
25.5k Scriefers@ahiredgun, yeah do whatever you want to it to make it work, I don't mind at all. Try taking the little wing tips off the 'bombs', that might help the lag issue. They're just cosmetic pieces anyway. Also, I made the nose cone so you can paint the top and bottom half separate, try making the glass nose version.9.7 years ago
-
25.5k Scriefers@allstarship, thanks bud! I hope you enjoy the plane as well though haha. And 9 times outta 10 you're right with calling out vote rigging alt accounts, but I assure you @Geebers ain't me. (If that's what you meant by that previous comment, I was a little confused)9.7 years ago
