The Alex Hirton Type III or AH.III was a kit plane developed by Alex Hirton in the 1950s. It First Flew on May 9th 1956 and sold very few plans (just 72 with only 20 being built and registered). it came off the market in 1962 when it was replaced by the more successful AH.IV. just 5 are still airworthy, 2 in the US (US-182AH the prototype and US-242IH), 2 in the UK (G-AJDE and G-AJEI) and 1 in France (F-ALOQ). (Note: do not use it on paved runways as the tail skid will catch and flip the plane)
