M28 Basilisk
The M28 Basilisk (after the king of serpents, said to have the ability to kill with a glance) is the replacement of the venerable line of M97 Scorpion. It is, in essence, a much improved version of KRIEG's XM28 Victoria II. Changes include: replacing main armament to the UDO M4A2 120mm smoothebore , capable of firing LAHAT ATGMs (the M4A2 cannon allows use of LAHAT), a new composite, Archangel IV. While carrying the same name, it was a completely separate armor system. Frontal armor r was also improved with an AR500 steel coating with some Titanium add on armor. Optics are used to make the Basilisk have hunter-killer abilities as well as the fact that the M28s philosophy is see first, shoot first, and win first. Engine power is delivered via two SF-20-AC engines. Extra weapons include the Banshee RCHWS, a derivative of the Paternian RWS, including the ability to mount HMGs, miniguns, and grenade launchers. The Trapshooter APS is also an improvement over just using the Ares soft-kill (Ares had a hard kill, but almost never worked as good as the soft-kill), so both Trapshooter and Ares is used. Space for four fully-geared infantrymen is available at the back of the vehicle, or two casualties in a stretcher. The M28 entered service in 2013-14. Credit to Pilotmario for the initial vehicle.
