The Burner was the most numerous blimp used by Nova Evropan forces in the attempted conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. This fairly unassuming, high-endurance's aircraft was principally used within NE-controlled lands as the main means of communication between Citadels (Fortress cities where only Citizens live containing weapons manufacturing capabilities) and the outside world where the non-Citizen castes live; as well as to patrol the latter.
On top of this, it's used to deploy novice Citizens behind enemy frontlines to slaughter, plunder and abduct smaller settlements as part of a broader terror campaign. This practice is also used with Citizens in the last stage of initiation on NE lands, where the targets are Squatter settlements. These raids notably are used to kidnap European women as "war-brides".
Squatters themselves a population surrounded by Nova Evropan forces, composed of either non-Europeans or "dissolute" Europeans and mixed-race people. In the latter case, they are demanded to commit horrific murders against their "lesser" neighbors to join Nova Evropa, and are overall slated for extermination through enslavement, which the end of the Nova Evropan Wars prevented. The Burner themselves are representative of the methods: not only are the raw materials for Nova Evropan gasbags partly made from the guts of dead enslaved Squatters worked to death, but said gasbags are representative of the overall treatment of Squatter bodies: raw materials unworthy of ceremony or respect and to be fed either to the industry, or to their still-living inmates.
While the raids initially proved to be brutal, they had a lower effect than expected due to the CIR's otherwise underwhelming militias being fairly readily adapted to quickly respond to Burner raids. While this was initially compensated for by adding extra blimps per sortie to bring extra troops, serve as gunships and bomb the attacked targets to soften them up before launching on foot raids, improved alert systems and settlement fortification would eventually end the threat.
This aircraft's payload is typical of raiders over the CIR, where a fraction would carry bombs instead of a full complement in order to attack diversionary targets. These aircraft would usually carry a reduced complement or, in bombing-only missions only enough crew for it's door guns. These would progressively replace aerial sacking as the war went on, as Dwellers could be part of the crew in these cases.
