Martine Patrol Entry: Westland P.13 Manatee MK-I
Era: 1941-1943 (WWII)

Manufacture: Fictional, but loosely based on a modified Westland P.12 Wendover (a British Aircraft that was taken out of service quickly as better aircraft took its role).

Concept: In an alternative history France was able to stay in the war a little bit longer, and with early help from the British acquired the modified the Wendover from Westland. First dubbed the p. 13 Syrian, it quickly became known as the Manatee due to its bulky shape and relatively slow speed. While steady and reliable, the Manatee didn't see much combat as its loss rate was sadly astonishing.

Role: The p.13 Manatee Mk-I was a pure torpedo plane and was used mainly to take out cargo craft and surfaced U-boats. However, it is capable of water landings and takeoffs (if not fully loaded) and was sometimes used for coastal search and rescue.

Loadout: Crew: 3, plus one optional tail gunner. Powerplant is a modified 24 cylinder Napier Sabre II. It is loaded with eight 250 lbs. forward facing torpedoes. It had two rear experimental torpedo launchers, which where notoriously hard to aim and prone to failure at higher altitudes. These replaced the Wendover's classic rear gunners nest. It was also equipped with a long-range radio system, and two sonar buoys used to detect and fish out U-boats by using active pings to simulate vessel engine noise.

  • Active Groups: 1-sonobouy (has orbital camera), 2-sonobouy (has orbital camera), 3-rear torpedo (than 4 just as hits the water), 5- rear torpedo (than 6 just as hits the water) , 7-landing lights. *

Note: This is a causal entry and have no notion this will take out any part the Skyland Fleet short of a miracle!

Plus. Sorry for the successor mistake the first time around.
