The High Speed Multirole Missile is a supersonic anti-ship missile developed by SMC Aerospace to equip the Lapwing-class sloop. The missile is designed to give the vessels greater striking power than that offered by the SPEAR-3 cruise missile.

Description:

The HSMM anti-ship missile represents a huge upgrade in the firepower of the Lapwing-class sloop, which was previously limited to using the vertically launched variant of the SPEAR-3 miniature cruise missile for sea control operations. The missile is launched from twin launch boxes, with a maximum speed of Mach 1.3 and a range of 85 nautical miles. Up to four launchers may be fitted to the ship in "Advanced Sea Control" configuration, allowing the Lapwing-class to engage vessels of cruiser size or larger.

HSMM is able to guide itself around obstacles such as small islands and is able to "talk" with other missiles, sharing targeting data, alerting each other to obstructions and coordinating a swarm. The missile is dual-mode, being able to launch in "fire-and-forget" mode or with mid-course updates from the launch vessel. With its relatively high speed, low flight profile and intelligent targeting system the HSMM can penetrate advanced air defences with ease, especially when launched in swarms.

Each missile has a large 750 kilogram warhead, and can be modified to carry nuclear weapons. There is also a land-attack variant, with a range of 115 miles and speed of Mach 1.1.

All Block 1 and Block 1A HSMM anti-ship missiles are being updated to Block 2 and Block 3 standard.

Block 1 - Original anti-ship variant, range 85 nautical miles. Length - 3.6 metres.
Block 1A - Land-attack variant, range 115 nautical miles. Length - 3.6 metres.
Block 2 - Updated multirole variant with improved data-link, terminal-phase manoeuvrablity and guidance system, range 145 nautical miles. Length - 3.6 metres.
Block 3 - Standard Block 2 missile with updated software for vertical launching, range 140 nautical miles. Length - 4.15 metres, including booster.

Controls:

AG-4 (orAG-5) +VTOL activates the missiles and opens the launcher doors. Don't open the doors all the way or they will start to shake.
