F-411G Cheetah

89 Samhimstone  3.1 years ago

During the 1970s, swing wing aircraft were starting to come about, American aircraft company, McDonnell Douglas wanted a fast, and maneuverable fighter, something that can be better than the Flogger, which was already wreaking havoc on the American Air Forces already with their F-4 Phantoms already being out classed by this new threat but McDonnell Douglas wanted to get an edge over the Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-23 Flogger, and so, the F-411 was born. During the late 70s, McDonnell Douglas were already talking about replacing the F-14 Tomcat, and so five prototypes of the F-411 (At the time of the prototype phase it was dubbed the XF-411), and by 1979, over 10,000 units of the F-411 Cheetah were ordered into production, both aircraft would serve with each other during the course of the next thirty years. There are a lot of visual similarities between the Flogger and the Cheetah, one of which is the single rudder.

Also do note there are a couple of things that aren't exactly my design so I would like to credit those who originally made said parts, those parts being, the radar, yoinked out of GuyFolk's SU-57, well, I wouldn't exactly say "yoinked" more like just basically built one myself, and just pasted the code used for the radar, and yes, I know it looks pretty much like GuyFolk's SU-57, but hey, it was the easiest design that I found for it, so hey, it works, anyway, another part is a Mach cone hidden in the back of the fuselage, I forget who built it exactly, but it is pretty cool for when you're zooming past Mach, but anyway there's that feature, all of the switches are cosmetic, no rudder pedals, and the cockpit all in all is as basic as basic can be, but hey at least it has great visibility, so that's pretty neat, I would say. Also has no HUD or even crosshairs, like I said, it's basic, so. I should also mention, it has a very fast acceleration, so do be warned if the acceleration is a tiny bit unrealistic, but hey, 2 engines for a plane that weighs literally less than an F-4, and F-14 combined, I'd say it's about right imo. I also slapped a small detail by the canopy frame where you can add your own custom name and nick name if you'd like.
