This is how I did do: Link a rod to a rotator and nudge the rod downward. then connect a panel with the rod.
Those rods are just XML modified fuselarge parts
VTOL axis 100% - fully open the bay / 0% - close the bay

you seem to play iOS edition, i do not know how to do that on it...
