Lore

Overview

The DRA-50X Keraunos, nicknamed "The Rocket," is a Lykanian 4.5th generation experimental fighter. Designed as a testbed for airborne weapons, the Keraunos is capable of carrying a vast array of weaponry, both past, present, and future. Despite its limited numbers, the Keraunos has played a massive role with the LKAF, serving as the testbed for some of Lykania's most advanced aerial weapons, like the LIMR-7 "Sentinel" missile.

Background and Development

The Keraunos was originally meant to be produced as Lykania's next-generation fighter, meant to replace its fleet of 3rd and 4th generation fighters. However, the project went overbudget when only 2 airframes were completed. At the same time, the LKAF had decided to pursue a 5th-generation fighter. Drakon Dynamics cancelled the Keraunos project in favor of Project Nightfall, which would eventually result in the creation of the DRA-07F Nyx II

Operational History

The Keraunos first entered service on January 9th, 2007. Both airframes were delivered to the secretive Black Site Paladin on Dosch Island. From there, they served as experimental testbeds and as aggressor fighters. The Keraunos, or "The Twins," as the residents of Dosch Island referred to them as, were instrumental in aiding the production of some of Lykania's most advanced weaponry, like the LIMR-7, LIMR-17, and LCM-85 missiles. Despite the project being cancelled, the Keraunos also served as the testbed for the ARCS project, which sought to test the plausibility of airborne railgun systems. During the Cascadian Uprising, the Twins were deployed to guard Dosch Island. Despite coming in close proximity to Libertine fighters, neither of them saw combat.

Gameplay

She's finally done. 3 months and numerous changes later, I present to you the Keraunos. She was originally meant to be a 6th-generation fighter, but I later realized, with the help of some peers over in my Discord server, that a 6th-gen wouldn't be an Ace Combat-esque superplane. So I changed my stance on the Keraunos. She isn't a 6th-gen, but she could very well be an Ace Combat antagonist's plane. She flies really well, packs some deadly missiles, and, even though I gave up trying to model one, she could definitely carry a railgun. I hope you enjoy the Keraunos as much as I do.
