cessna O-1 birddog
a classic in Forward Air Control
history
Designed because the US Army needed a special scout plane after the braking of the USAAF into just the USAF, they held a competition to get an all metal, 2 person aircraft capable of short landing, and with good visablity for spotting and air support roles. The Cessna Corporation taking the base of the 170 to create the model 305A. The first flight was conducted in December of 1949 and was given a contract, and introduced as the L-19 Birddog. Going through the Korean and the Vietnam wars, the cessna O-1 was a versatile and well made aircraft that served its purpose well. In total 3,431 were made.

(Just to show how exact I got with the blueprints)
Builders Note: I tried to make this as simple yet realistic as I could, and it is pretty dang realistic. Some things such as the glass are not detailed like the real birddog but it would have been a big headache and I honestly just want to get this out of the way so I can focus on other projects. Takeoff speed, top speed, and many other things are almost exact to the real aircraft, and I'm so happy I was able to do it. I hope you enjoy!
