DUW MA-1
Entry to the Airliner Challenge.
Supersonic Airliner. Stock parts - not modded.
Designed as a small capacity supersonic solution for fast and efficient air travel.
This is the Concorde's younger brother done on a budget. Originally designed with 4 engines and capable of Mach 2 flight at 50,000ft, the engineers decided to remove 2 engines to save weight and fuel. The small capacity aircraft doesn't have the fuel capacity to support sustained Mach 2 flights for longer than 10 minutes - hence the need for the smaller 2 engine version which sustains Mach 1 - 1.4 flight for up to an hour.
Seats 80 people plus cargo. I have simulated this by adding 20,000lbs dead weight in the seating section of the fuselage.
Economy cruise (60% power) is at 770mph+ @ 50,000ft.
Fast cruise (85% power) is at 960mph+ @ 50,000ft.
Top speed (100% power) is at 1060mph+ @ 50,000ft.
Has a range of roughly 1000 miles.
Takeoff speed is above 250mph.
Fly your landing approach at 260mph (25% power) with full nose up trim and flare with brakes applied to cut throttle and deploy airbrakes/spoilers.
Will land fully loaded on any sealed runway and can land fully loaded at Bandit Airstrip with the aid of the emergency parachutes (Action Group 1) during the landing roll after touchdown.
