X-MP6 Missile-Powered Plane

27.8k bskngshrk  8.7 years ago

INSTRUCTIONS
Group 1: Primary Ignition
Group 2: Secondary Ignition
Takes off by itself at about 350 MPH, don't touch any controls until airborne.

The first installment of my new series of missile-powered planes. Each one of Sirstupid's ATLAS missile cells burns for precisely 40 seconds, so you may either burn the two cell groups seperately for a longer flight or activate them both to reach top speed. The best way to land is to glide into the water at a very shallow angle (the airframe is very fragile, be careful). Enjoy, leave a comment, and happy flying! :)

NOTE
I will definitely be improving every aspect of this craft in a later model, including the missile cells themselves.

@bskngshrk They are due for an update, I was planning on that sometime soon. These ones were more PoC.

Thanks @FennVectorCWA yeah I borrowed a few missile cells from Sirstupid to use for propulsion. I will be improving his design to steady the plane's flight path, though

I have created manual launch interceptors ...but idk if i can use them as engines ...the exhaust looks great actually

Thank you :) @Sirstupid the missiles themselves actually can't go any faster than 3135 MPH, which I've reached at 100,000 feet. Now my objective is to improve the plane to reach this speed at lower and lower altitudes until it can do Mach 4 at basic cruising altitude

Thank you :) I'm excited about where I can take this @Hadesrocks PS 3100 MPH at 95,000 feet. Mach 4

I climbed until my fuel ran out, then saved the location and started over from there. And with this tech I bet I'd be able to exceed Mach 5 at 50,000 feet with some improvements later down the line. @Hadesrocks

Well, actually there are a few hypersonic jets, but mostly @bskngshrk

How did you get it that high? The fuel should have run out?

I just did a bit of testing. This plane is capable of over 2700 MPH at 80,000 feet. I think I might be able to build the fastest non-modded plane on SimplePlanes. @Hadesrocks @Sirstupid
