This is a drone for target practice and new pilot training. It is powered by a Cleaver, so it can fly indefinitely at a constant speed. Painted in bright red and white, with yellow beacons and a distinct trail, the drone can be tracked visually from up to 12 miles away, allowing rookie pilots to easily spot it and attack it without reliance on instruments.
When sufficiently damaged, the drone will explode spectacularly in a highly visible fireball, notifying the pilot, their instructor and anyone on the ground of the successful attack.
You can still control it yourself like a normal plane, just make sure you start in the air - it has no landing gear.
