Phoenix Industries AF-04
The AF-04, the production version of Project 8122, is an advanced attacker fielded by the Republic of Accilia Air Force. This aircraft excels at ground attacks, but can still hold it's own in aerial combat.
This aircraft features two afterburning turbofans, inheriting the same engine model from it's prototype. This provides much the same thrust, however the top speed does take a minor hit due to additional equipment added for the AAF.
For an attacker, the AF-04 is surprisingly nimble. with a tight turn circle and good speed, this aircraft is more than prepared to defend itself.
At low speeds, the AF-04 extends (non-functional) stabilizer wings. This is a visual indicator that you have approached the ideal firing speed for this aircraft's railgun.
Besides the standard 4 MSL missiles and autocannon with 800 rounds, the AF-04 carries a whopping 8 8AGM missiles. Further, it also can hold 2 LASM air to ship missiles for coastal defense and other similar roles.
On the air to air side, the AF-04 has 4 4AAM missiles, which is more than enough firepower to go around.
This aircraft is, so far, the only aircraft with the Model 01B rail cannon in it's arsenal. This direct-fire weapon is mainly used for long range attacks against ships and other mostly stationary targets. However, there are some field modifications that have repurposed the shells for proximity detonation.
The AF-04 is generally quite durable and easy to maintain. The railgun is detachable in case of system failure, and for accessing the underside of the plane for easier repairs. The downward-facing rudders were removed due to them adding much mechanical complexity for very little gain.
The aircraft sells for around 80 million USD without the raligun. The railgun is sold separately for 550 thousand USD.
- I made the afterburner effect more realistic, making it more of a deeper purple
- The railgun is reworked and now detaches when out of ammo. It now has glowy bits! Who doesn't love glowy bits?
- Armament is now more suited for ground attack, which is the original purpose in this plane.
- Despite being an attacker, it is still designated as a fighter by the Accilian Air Force. The same is true with the AF-01.
- The downward pointing rudders are gone! they looked kinda dumb anyways.
- The stabilizer wings don't actually do anything, they just look cool.
- Full markings are applied.
I am really glad I redid this plane... It is so much better now, and it does it's job (and many others) very well.

@Rb2h the "stabilizer" wings?
Admittedly I dont know what I was thinking when I had the idea to add them
Kudos for searching out a two year old post though
nah the wing
@GeorgianSpecialAirforce Alrighty then
y e s o f c o u r s e
@GeorgianSpecialAirforce we have a deal. Would you like railguns with that?
Georgian Air force will like to buy 100 of these for 120 million
@GeorgianSpecialAirforce I can agree, I would have liked to change them but I didn't want to untill it was too late
This is Magnificent, but i would change the wing design (specifically the wingtips)
@Griffon1 Np. Again, this is really good.
@AtlasMilitaryIndustries Thanks! I've been redoing all my project planes and applying new stuff I've picked up since then
This is really cool!
