Designed in and first produced in 1943 the first American jet fighter to go into production the Shooting Star however didn't see combat until the Korean War by which time it was outclassed by swept wing jets such as the Sabre and Mig15. This example is tricky to fly as it lacks sufficient vertical stability and is rather top heavy and has a tendency to wallow in turns, that said it's fairly fun to fly and hits a realistic enough 460mph which given its vintage would have been pretty darned quick.
