The Mikoyan DDR 27V-24M is an ambitious project by Mikoyan-Gurevich to transform a MiG-27 attack aircraft into a race car. This extensive project took many years, reflecting the challenges of converting a military fighter into a high-performance vehicle. The DDR 27V-24M is powered by a massive V-24AP-T air-cooled engine, derived from the original MiG-27’s powerplant. The vehicle retains much of the aircraft's shape, though the elevator and main wing sections have been removed. The original air intakes are repurposed as part of the cooling system to mitigate engine overheating, while the nozzle functions as the exhaust. The Mikoyan DDR achieves a maximum speed of 410 km/h, though its heavy weight limits it from reaching even higher speeds.
