The knight is designed to never be within striking distance of the enemy aircraft. The enemy aircraft would be an unsuspecting target and should the enemy be alerted of its presence the Knight would have already performed its strike and be returning to base resulting in a downed enemy.

To extend the flight the knight can cruise at subsonic speeds, conserving fuel, reducing any possible heat signatures, all while remaining undetected until within striking distance(classified). Should the enemy obtain a lock it would be too late for the enemy anyhow.

Should a close range encounter occur the knight would be more maneuverable and first to fire through advanced targeting.
