The Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche matches the US Army's ideal of a 21st century recon/attack helicopter. It's fast, light and powerful. Furthermore, it is silent, difficult to detect visually and practically invisible to enemy radar. Even when detected, it would be able to withstand various damage caused by anti-aircraft artillery, which would bring down less resistant helicopters. The Comanche was masterfully designed to survive on the modern battlefield. Despite all these features favoring it, the RAH-66 Comanche was canceled by the US Army due to cost issues (expenses on this project were approximately 7 billion dollars). All electronic systems that were to equip Comanche will now equip the AH-64 Apache.
