May I present the Consolidated PBY5 Catalina Flying Boat. She is an Amphibian able to operate from land or water bases (vtol up to fold rear gear) and was used by the U.S. Navy (and other allied forces) during the second world war, many a downed aviator owes their life to the Catalina and whilst far from fast or fierce lots of axis shipping was sent to the bottom in part due to the actions of the Flying Boats. Regards to @SkipperBing for the upperworks of this aircraft, I've simplified its hull, added the folding gear and made it float and be able to fly on and off the water.
