Should take about 7 seconds to take off at 100% thrust. It will spin for a bit but will stabilize momentarily. When you would like to detach select Detach 1, and adjust throttle to 0%. After about 7-12 seconds (Depending on your speed) your engines will detach. Have fun as your rocket falls to it's demise.
