showmans engine
Showmans engines were most commonly seen at the circus or fair, being used as heavy haulers to tug around equipment. They had to look the part so they were often decorated with bright colors and lights.
To run the engine:
AG1 and VTOL up no more than one notch to start engine, adjust slightly for smooth running.
AG2 and throttle to go.
AG3 and trim to crank water pump handle.
AG4 and trim to turn propane tank knob. The engine is fired by propane as it is much safer and cleaner to run than wood/coal.
Pitch down to release extra steam pressure.
Camera 1 is cab view, camera 2 is mounted on the cylinder of the engine.
The engine is reversable, stop the engine and wait for the flywheel to turn in the desired direction then slowly give a little speed to kick it into motion. Its quite finnicky and doesnt run well at high speed, but its not meant to go fast in the first place. The governor spins and the steering works too, I tried to give it some nice functioning features. I would love to have added a belt between the flywheel and dynamo but I dont know how to make one so oh well. Enjoy!
