Grumman XF5F Skyrocket
Credit for the insignias goes to @thealban. The Grumman XF5F was a prototype naval fighter built in 1941. Its main competitor was the Vought F4U Corsair. It was a carrier pilots dream, with counter rotating props eliminating torque, and no long nose to try to see over. The aircraft also had a tremendous climbing ablility(hence the name). The corsair was inferior in all but speed and payload, but at a time when the US Navy was just coming out of the age of singe engine biplanes, a twin engine monoplane, especially one as odd as this one, seemed a bit radical at the time and was not chosen for production. I hope you enjoy this plane. I spent a lot of time working on it and even tried some new construction techniques. Try it out and see how this odd beauty flys for yourself
