The Tsar's Bomb (Russian: ????-?????, Tsar Bomb ) is the name given by the West to the most powerful nuclear weapon ever built and detonated. It was a 3-stage hydrogen bomb (fission-fusion-fission), manufactured by the Soviet Union under the official name RDS-220, the code name being Ivan (Ivan). The initial project provided for an equivalent power of 100 megatons of TNT , later reduced to 50 megatons, to limit radioactive contamination.
