The Mi-3D was a twin engine, four seat, experimental multipurpose heavy fighter designed and built in 1934. It was armed with one 20mm ShVAK cannon in the nose, two .30 cal ShKAS machine guns in gun pods under the wing center section, and one .30 cal ShKAS machine gun in the rear cockpit. The airplane had a crew of four: two pilots in the forward cockpit, the radio operator in the middle, and the gunner in the rear cockpit. The project was cancelled because the Russian Air Force's concentration turned to fighters with recoilless cannon of large caliber instead of cannon and machine guns of small caliber. The Mi-3D was the successor to the Tupolev Mi-3 and the predecessor to the Tupolev ANT-29/DIP. Ejectors 1 and 2 will make the airplane go into a "shot down" effect.
