Backstory (Warning: May Contain References to Spoilers in the Archon Quest):

In Fontaine, Theater is a very important part of their culture. It is to no surprise that the people of Fontaine enjoy air shows and demonstrating how good their pilots are, Hence the aircraft manufactured by Oratrice Aerospatiale prioritizes performing in an air show just as much as performing in combat.

One such aircraft designed for air shows was the FRN-014, a light and maneuverable single-seat and single engine light fighter. An example of this aircraft was commisisoned to be built as the Hydro Archon's personal air show craft, earning it the nickname "Pride of Fontaine."

The aircraft's small size makes it perfect for making precise low-level maneuvers, and even flying in between buildings. The Hydro Archon was pleased by this near-perfect (to her standards, at least) aircraft.

Since the FRN-014 was made primarily for air shows, Oratrice Aerospatiale integrated twin hydro cannons to be used for mock dogfights within the air shows. The pressure from the hydro cannons at their high setting causes significant damage on target aircraft, but for the mock dogfights, A lower pressure is set.

As the Hydro Archon Furina makes many appearances and performances in her FRN-014 (Serial Number FA-7420) it is clear why it's currently known as the Pride of Fontaine, despite it not being the most advanced or capable fighter in Fontaine's arsenal. The Hydro Archon claims that it is a quite capable platform despite its simplicity...

Despite its primary role as an Air show performer, the FRN-014 still packs quite a punch as a light fighter. Armed with a 20mm gatling cannon mounted under the nose, the Pride of Fontaine is a capable dogfighter, and with hardpoints to mount missiles on, the FRN-014 can pack quite a punch despite its smaller size.

There was one incident that put the FRN-014 to the test in terms of its combat abilities....

It was a dark and starry night above the skies of Fontaine, with only Furina's FRN-014 patrolling the airspace... Suddenly, Furina's RWR (Radar Warning Reciever) warned her of an attacking aircraft, and as they merged, the FRN-014 came face to face with one of the Fatui's most advanced fighters: The ACN-33R "Knave" After a fierce dogfight, both fighters emerged unscratched... The Knave disappearing into the night while the FRN-014 survived the assasination attempt, landing at the Fontaine Although Furina claims it was her skill that drove the advanced fighter away, it's still up for debate...

Despite all the claims from the incident, The FRN-014 is still a capable aircraft, and still packs a punch in the hands of a capable pilot...

Furina's FRN-014 has been slightly modified for even more agility and with a better radar than the standard fighters. FA-7420 has advanced avionics, which may be a contributing factor when it faced against the ACN-33R, which at the time is a fighter concealed in mystery

Other Incidents in Fontaine:

A few weeks prior to the FRN-014's encounter there was an air show incident involving the tampering of the Hydro Cannons on aircrafts performing in an air show.

In an air show held in the presence of the Hydro Archon, one of the performing aircraft's Hydro Cannon reservoir tanks havd been filled with water from the Primordial Sea by one of the mechanics. As the performing aircrafts initiated their mock dogfights, the Hydro Cannon of the performing LY-3Y shot a beam of Primordial seawater, causing unusual damage to the accompanying LY-3T aircraft and forcing an emergency landing. The damaged aircraft's parts that have fallen off killed one mechanic of the performing group.

An investigation was promptly launched... And due to the unique property of the Primordial Seawater, and the unique origins of the people from Fontaine, it was found that the Primordial Seawater that had splashed off had also dissolved a spectator into water.

The investigation concludes with the mechanic responsible for tampering with the Hydro Cannons was the other casualty to the incident. The findings prompted the authorities to be inspecting the aircraft before performing and Oratrice Aerospatiale experimenting on which materials resists the effects of Primordial Seawater more.
