Lego Set 70003, Eagle Interceptor (Childhood Toy Challenge)
Note: there are some color differences in the below screenshots. other than that, it's the same thing
When I saw the Childhood Toy Challenge, I knew I wanted to enter but I didn't know what to build... After a while of thinking, I decided on the Eagle Interceptor. I've had this thing for, what, 8 years now? and I still have it. Given, it's missing pieces, and some minor cosmetic adjustments were made to the real thing, but I built the on-the-box version.
I had a big trouble getting the engines to have enough air... there aren't many intakes on this set.
My whole childhood I thought this was a cool build, and while the shape is the same, some of the functions I had to take liberties for. (Come on. you thought the tail feather pieces WEREN'T elevators?) My build does not perform that well, but... it's a Lego set. What did you expect?
The "legs" fold up to point the COT rearward, which is modeled in this build, as well as the little talons. I mean... the talons break almost every time in game... just like real life!. It also has four guns on the wings, and i decided to omit the missile launchers this time. Perhaps the thing I take most pride in is the fact that the "escape pod" actually flies! Given, it does so terribly, but its an escape pod. what would you expect?. (Just in case it comes armed with two guns)

This is also the first build of this vehicle on the SP website!
(And my most popular build yet...)
@Griffon1 I simply have a habit of lurking around the site for neat planes to play around and then archive and I just so happened to have stumbled around your build.
.
You're welcome and yes, I had fun playing around with it in spite of/despite the quirks (including slow motion causing it to wrench downwards)
.
No worries with the long comment. I just like seeing neat builds and this one just particularly stuck out to me due to the theme it came from, the fact it's the only one of its kind on the site currently (I also have an Interceptor that I haven't even gone past the cockpit stage) and the amount of effort you put into it.
@HariTheSnakk Oh man, you must have really been looking if you found a post from three and a half years ago lmao
But even so I'm glad you stumbled across it, because despite its age its still one of my favorite builds and would fly it in the multiplayer mod all the time.
Hover controls take a bit of getting used to since there are a couple quirks with it, but given the time to get a feel for it and its really fun to use.
In regular flight mode, its ridiculously stable, but bleeds speed like you wont believe and sometimes the physics freaks out with the legs. While slow for a jet, its not ecactly built for combat in SP.
Ive since made a 1.2 version which adresses some of these problems and removes a lot of the escape pod functions in exchange for weight, although I havent published it yet.
Sorry for the wall of text, but again, I just stoked that you found this post my earlier days of SP upon which I look so fondly
Of all the things I see and archive from this site, a Legends of Chima build is not what I expected.
.
But I feel so darned happy knowing this exists and you built it, dude.
Wow i really liked lego
@Mustangflyer :D
This is epic
@Griffon1Crosswind :D
@FireFast212 yeeeah! Thank you for the follow, by the way!
hey remember me! nice build!
@JSwannyGaming148 alright I'll see if I can improve it.
@AccilianMilitaryAircraft might be a good idea to just experiment with it and see if you can get it better, I'll let you re-upload it and have it count if you want

@JSwannyGaming148 Noted
@AccilianMilitaryAircraft Just a tip
If you want it to handle better, adjust the CoM to the primary wing, if possible, and hide some small inlets inside of blocks so they can't be seen
@JSwannyGaming148 Thank you!
@AccilianMilitaryAircraft Ooooh, nice!
Yes!
