This observation plane was designed with a flying wing / blended wing body because of increase in lift it allows. This lets it carry a large amount of fuel, while still giving it STOL capability, thanks to its low stall speed. Because of this, the Monitor can be used for everything from military reconnaisance to humanitarian surveys in disaster areas. It also sees some use as a training aircraft, it is very easy to fly.
