Smirnov SM-20 (NATO reporting name "Corner") is a Soviet is long-range jet airliner, designed in 1962 by Smirnov design bureau in Leningrad for intercontinental flights.
The design is a four-engined low-wing monoplane with a circular pressurised fuselage and conventional tail. Equipped with four Nikolayev VN-22 jet engines, each providing a takeoff thrust of 9200 kgf (90.2 kN)

In the late 1950's Smirnov design bureau recieved order from Soviet government to develop a new long-range airliner, which could compete with the latest long-range airliners like Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-8.
SM-20 was designed as a main competitor to the Ilyushin IL-62 airliner. Intended to replace airliner Tupolev Tu-114.
SM-20 made it's first flight in 1962 and started service in 1964.
