SMCA Twin Freive

Description
The SMCA Twin Freive was developed by SMC Aerospace for the Prieskan Air Component. The aircraft was developed from the Freive II special operations aircraft, with twin turboprop engines mounted on the wings instead of a single engine mounted in a tractor configuration on the fuselage.
The aircraft has capacity for seven people, including two crew, in military utility configuration. Unlike its predecessor, the Twin Freive does not carry underwing stores, armed only with two 7.62mm machine guns in the wings. With 50% more power than the Freive, the Twin Freive is considerably faster and more agile, but has decreased range. The Twin Freive also lacks the electronic warfare equipment fitted to the Frieve IIs, and as such usually serves solely as a transport utility aircraft.
Forty-eight Twin Freives were built for the Prieskan Air Component, serving alongside an equal number of better armed Freive IIs. The aircraft have seen use in resupplying remote communities in the South African bush, as well as use patrolling border areas interdicting poachers and smugglers.
