the BEV was a experiment by Rune to see if the public would accept a short range electric car. With a max range of around 100 miles and a somewhat affordable price of £21000 it was well received by the public thanks to is futuristic tech and speedy acceleration. with 8000 being sold over 3 years. Its downfall was its lead acid battery degrading quickly over time ultimately killing the car with the cars losing around 40% of their range after 5 years. The BEV had a second generation with a lithium ion battery in 1999 but it was only sold for a year. Really a idea a bit ahead of its time.
