Focke Wulf Fw189 A

85.9k Annedzsrue  5.2 years ago

The Focke Wulf 189 is a reconnaissance and army cooperation aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in 1938 and first introduced in 1941. The Fw189 Entered service in the Luftwaffe in 1941 as a recon aircraft, later employed as a light recon bomber with 4 50kg bombs strapped underneath the wings in the Eastern Front with Great Success.

Often if an enemy aircraft is behind, the Fw189 could outturn and at the same time engage it with its 2 7.62mm defense armament both in turrets of irregular design.

The Focke Wulf 189 would later retire in 1945 in the Eastern Front with no clear successor design nor how many were left.

This is my first replica with twin boom design and also with extensively detailed gondola. took me almost 4 days to complete the cockpit with somewhat accurate realistic dashboard. And since It mostly engaged in the Eastern Front, I built it with Winter Livery but painting it all white would make it uniformally clean so I tried adding little details to make it “messier”. no AG controls either, just fly and go.

Very cool.! Ww2 era German are easily my favorite planes. I've actually attempted building a ju-52 but I can't get detailed without lagging out and eventually crashing the program.

fun fact: some of those planes came back from operations with ramming damage. those planes where so sturdy that some soviet pilots run out of ammo trying to get them down. also you could simply switch out the engine beams because they wherent left and right sided wich made it easier to repair the plane (and apparently there where planes with left and right tail beams).

I love it, great canopy structure, simple cockpit and good fuselage shape.

@EternalDarkness it did have flaps, but was ommited to keep it mobile friendly.

Actual custom elevator would have been easy to make and would make the build significantly better. Also, it's missing flaps. Other than that, very nice build. Good performance and surprisingly low part count.
