A-93 Pika (Australian Experimental Jet)

112 Timewarp23O0  8.2 years ago

When the UK Ministry of Supply Specification E.7/48 for the development of a high-speed pilotless target aircraft was accepted by the Australian Government, a decision was also made to produce a piloted version (which turned into the only ever jet that Australia oversaw the design and construction of for military use. A Government Aircraft Factory design team, leaded by I. B. Fleming began work on two such aircraft to prove, among other things that there was no need for a rudder. The aboriginal name Pika, or flyer, was chosen. It does not pitch very quickly (turning circle is 2 km), but is level at 530 mph. I built this with a few artistic liberties, as the small stature of the craft doesnt cater to hiding things very well, as you can see the landing gear when it is retracted, i couldnt put it in the correct location and make it the right size, and i have added flaps and a parachute (connected to 1 ) purely for fun. It was made on mobile so i couldnt make it very detailed, but i did the best i could with the mirroring technique. Hope you like it!
