Butterfly

66.7k PPLLAANNEE  3.4 years ago

A giant swallowtail butterfly in simple planes. I made this as a test of a propulsion thing. It flies by flapping its wings.

Controls

Throttle to flap
Yaw to turn
Pitch to pitch
Landing gear to move the legs up.

How to fly

Take off by flapping and pitching down, when you get to like 30 mph stop pitching down and eventually you will lift. If you break apart while taking off just restart.
It is very unstable without the gyroscopes.
If you are drifting sideways or backwards, Use yaw to turn and face the direction you are moving, To turn use yaw very slowly while flapping.
If you are trying to climb do NOT pitch up.
This is what I was trying to make

I think I saw one of these like yesterday. Black and yellow colored wings but maybe a different pattern. Anyway, nice work, this is really cool!
