They featured an additional 4.3 inch gun and another triple torpedo launcher along with a repositioned anti-aircraft gun for better firing angles these ship unlike the ship they where based off where built in limited numbers ,they where the Gewitter (thunderstorm), Zyklon (cyclone), Schneesturm (blizzard), Tsunami (Tsunami)
