Bungarus multicinctus Attack aircraft(Background: 1960s)

(Bungarus multicinctus is a kind of poisonous snake with silver stripes on its body. It has white rings and black rings on its back. The white rings are narrow, the tail is long and thin, and the toxicity is very strong. It's very similar to this plane, so it's named after it)


Design features:

(1)Excellent front view

In the era when precision guided weapons have not been widely used, the search for ground targets by ground attack aircraft depends on the pilot to a large extent, and the excellent view angle under the cockpit is particularly important. So this attack machine specially optimizes the front view. The nose with large angle and drooping makes the front view unobstructed.

(2)Convenient HUD

Close to the ground attack is a kind of work that can't be distracted at all.

It's hard for the pilot to be distracted by the instrument changes in the cockpit during the touchdown attack. At the same time, in order to have a larger forward view, the aircraft also makes the instrument panel position lower. So a head up display which can let the pilot fully control his attitude during the flight is a very urgent need.

This head up display can display flap angle, tail leveling angle, compass azimuth angle (this is only decoration at present), artificial horizon change, altitude change (currently, it can only display altitude rise or fall, and can't display accurate altitude figures), tilt angle, pitch angle change, throttle amount, aircraft speed, and all key prompts of ag1-ag8 (let you never again You need to open the key interface to check because you forget not to press the number key, as well as the landing gear indicator light, low-speed alarm light (speed lower than 150mph), bomb drop indicator light and machine gun indicator light.

HUD Description:

(the order is from top to bottom, from left to right)

On the display is:
  1. The top scale is the compass azimuth (this is only decoration at present)
  2. Top left is flap angle, tail leveling angle
  3. The leftmost scale in the middle is the height scale (this is only decoration at present)
  4. Intermediate fuselage attitude indication (the following tilt angle scales are 0 °, 15 °, 30 °, 60 °, 90 °.)
  5. The middle right scale is the scale of artificial horizon (90 °, 60 °, 30 °, 0 °, - 30 °, - 60 °, - 90 ° from top to bottom). It's not a decoration. You can read the real angle against the horizon pointer in the middle.)
  6. The rightmost arrow shows whether the aircraft's head is pointing up or down,
    On the other hand, it also shows whether the current altitude is rising or falling, but it can not show the exact height figures.
  7. The green indicator bar on the far left of the bottom shows the throttle size.
  8. The color indicator bar on the far right of the bottom shows the speed. The difference between each grid is 25mph, and the red light bar is every 100mph. Over 600 mph is displayed as red overspeed status.
The buttons are:
  1. The six indicators on the left side are: landing gear indicator, low speed alarm light (speed lower than 150mph), projectile indicator light, gun indicator light, flap down indicator light and tail leveling indicator light.
  2. The eight indicators on the left correspond to all the buttons of ag1-ag8.
    So that you no longer need to open the key interface to check because you forget to press the number key or not
    This is a technological masterpiece of the 1960s.
    (considering the frequent low altitude attack in the daytime, the HUD in the 1960s was not strong enough to resist strong light, so a sunshade was added on the top of the HUD, which can be removed by friends who don't like it.)

    This plane is very stable and comfortable to fly. It is easy to keep its flying posture unchanged after balancing the horizontal tail. I often fly it at ultra-low altitude.
    In such a close to the ground flight,I don't have time to look down at the instruments in the cockpit. I haven't made cockpit instruments at all. I can see them on the HUD anyway. (in fact, because of the increasing number of parts and the slow operation of mobile phones, no cockpit has been built.)

(3) Nose TV probe

Although it has a good field of vision, if the free falling bomb does not use the dive projectile, the bomb's landing point will still appear under the nose. At this time, a TV probe that can adjust the dive angle (adjust the probe angle according to AG1 from - 15 ° to - 45 °) is needed to help the bomb drop.
The arrangement of the nose TV probe enables the attacker to carry out a stable but accurate horizontal projectile, instead of using a dive projectile closer and closer to the enemy.


(after the CCTV mod screen is installed, the TV screens on both sides of the driver's head up display can display the CCTV mod camera images installed on the nose TV probe and the TV guided bomb. You can see them in the cockpit without switching the viewing angle, but because the new version does not support mod, you have to cancel this function. I will add it next time I have a chance.)

Dead line mode

Using the horizontal bomb dropping mode, through the nose TV probe, after finding and aiming at the target with the collimator, press AG4 to start the automatic stabilization and maintain the level flight. When the bomb dropping point mark is aimed at the target fleet, press Ag3, the bomb will be dropped successively at the set interval of 0.5 seconds, landing and exploding, forming a death line. It's especially suitable for dealing with convoys on the road. (of course, you can also drop bombs manually, with the same accuracy)

(4)Excellent low altitude and low speed performance

Single wing design with high cantilever, three beam structure. The wing is a straight trapezoid wing with large aspect ratio. The rear edge of the wing is divided into two sections, the outer section is the aileron driven by hydraulic pressure, and the manual control function is used as the backup. The inside section is double slats.
The leading edge of the outer wing section has two leading edge slats. The leading edge of the outer wing section protrudes and forms a zigzag shape in the middle section of the wing to improve low-speed maneuverability.
There is a small cabin at the wingtip, which is equipped with electronic countermeasure equipment, and there is a retractable landing light at the lower part of the cabin (which is automatically turned on when landing). (press ag5) the rear part of the cabin can be opened up and down to form a deceleration plate.
When attacking, press ag5 to open the deceleration board at the wing end, which can greatly extend the attack window, make it easier to operate, and reduce the turning radius of the aircraft.

(5)Automatic yaw damping system rudder

The rudder is divided into two sections. When the rudder in the lower section acts, the rudder in the upper section will automatically provide damping for the yaw to avoid the increasingly obvious rolling trend of the aircraft. Let the aircraft in a more stable attitude, maintain a uniform horizontal steering.

(6)Fuselage armor

In order to improve the ability of the aircraft to resist the attack of ground fire, it adopts the all metal semi-rigid shell structure, the fuselage is short and thick, there are 24.5mm thick titanium alloy bulletproof plates at the bottom and around the cockpit, and the flight control surface is driven by push pull rods (rather than ordinary control cables). The main load-bearing parts are of damage resistant structure. The engine is installed in the cabin made of stainless steel plate and protected by 8mm thick bulletproof steel plate (HP value of the engine body is increased)

The cockpit cover is three pieces of bullet proof glass with large thickness installed on a solid frame to provide comprehensive protection for the driver.

A series of aerodynamic optimization and anti recoil measures have been taken around this super high speed gun. The wingtip pod is equipped with electronic countermeasures equipment, each of which has a set of foil dispenser for electronic interference and a set of hot flame bomb dispenser for infrared interference.

In the tail cone, all kinds of portable air-to-air missiles, which are mainly used to fight against the ground launch, are equipped with four pairs of hot flame projectiles, which can completely cover the infrared characteristics of the rear fuselage.
