The Rungu, so called to keep a theme with a pre-Crumbling experimental aircraft of similar shape, is one of the CIR's most iconic fighters and a particularly unusual airframe. It's typically used as a long-range escort and intruder aircraft, often in air superiority or interdiction missions. It's peculiar design is intended to produce a high-performance aircraft that nevertheless doesn't run into the issues of a push-pull machine while also minimizing drag. It's armament consists of a standard 4 10 mm HMGs, to which an extra 2 18 mm autocannons are added. These can be replaced by a gun pod with 2 27 mm cannons or a combination of other armaments.
However, this has come at the cost of being a cantankerous aircraft, that can potentially enter flat spins without too much difficulty.
While the 27 mm caliber was based on those used by the pre-Crumbling BK 27 aircraft cannons, the others were created post-Crumbling during a major war, and were originally intended to be cheaper, lighter supplements to the old .50 BMG and 20 mm cartridges. This was done to be more readily carried by infantry on foot in mountainous terrain, and has since supplemented the original calibers within the CIR due to their higher velocities and similar destructive power.
