Rungu A-series

480 AMPPL50  1.3 years ago

The Rungu, so called to keep a theme with a pre-Crumbling experimental aircraft of similar shape, is one of the CIR's most iconic fighters. It's typically used as a long-range escort and intruder aircraft, often in air superiority or interdiction missions. It's peculiar design is intended to produce a high-performance aircraft that nevertheless doesn't run into the issues of a push-pull machine while also minimizing drag. It's armament consists of a standard 4 10 mm HMGs, to which an extra 2 18 mm autocannons are added. These can be replaced by a gun pod with 2 27 mm cannons or a combination of other armaments.
These unusual calibers are caused by a deliberate intent on preventing would-be invaders from using captured equipment through the development of unique calibers and a desire for higher-velocity rounds while still trying to maintain a reasonable payload.
