Avtomat Kalashnikova
The Avtomat Kalashnikova Model 1947. It is one of the most influential weapon in all of human history, second to the Mauser M98 and derivatives. To merely discuss its technical details is not only boring, but would do injustice to such a weapon with so much character. Designed by Mikhal Kalashnikov to provide a cheap, reliable, automatic weapon for the Soviet infantryman, it did that very well and more. A soldier of a hundred armies and a veteran of a thousand wars, it is not difficult to see why it is so iconic. First seeing combat in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, it would soon see larger and more significant conflicts globally. It was here that it would first see use by rebels; several were captured by Hungarian anti-communist revolutionaries and used in the combat with the Soviet intervening forces. A saint and sinner, all it cares is that it works for whoever wields it.
