Description

After the development of the PI-JF-Salamander-Mk2, the Fercedinian Air Force asked for a variant with Air-to-Ground capabilities to replace their aging attackers. The Fercedinian Air Force had 3 main requirement for the project;
-the addition of a targeting pod
-minimal modifications to the airframe
-and of course, improved air-to-ground capabilities

To fulfil the first requirement, the development of Mjölnir Targeting Pod was accelerated. Due to this change in the program, the PI-JF-Salamander-Mk2 -Strike- had start to act as testbed for the Mjölnir. The second requirement was one of easiest to fulfil, only a few changes in the avionics were needed and another pylon for the targeting pod was placed. A few miscellaneous upgrades were made to the airframe. To help with ground attacks, the gun was placed under the nose of the plane and a gun camera was added to help the pilot aim.

The first PI-JF-Salamander-Mk2 -Strike- that were completed and delivered were assigned to the Attack Squadron 3/8 Fleur d'Azure of the Fercedinian Air Force. So far they were only used for training operations and an air show.

Technical Details

For it's armament, the PI-JF-Salamander-Mk2 -Strike- is equipped with 2 new missiles that were developed in parallel with the PI-JF-Salamander-Mk2 -Strike-. These missiles are the PI-MG-Zebu-Mk1, an air-to-surface and the PI-MGW-Gayal-Mk1 an Anti-Ship Cruise Missile. The plane is also equipped with the PI-MG-Gaur-Mk2 and PI-MMH-Buffalo-Mk2

Ag1 opens the canopy, allowing the pilot to get in and out of the plane.

Ag3 disengage the weapon safety
Be aware that the gun is unaffected by it
Ag4 opens the formation lights
Ag5 jettison the weapons
Ag6 send the wings behind
Ag7 triggers the ejection seat
Ag8 start off the engine
